‘Gold Standard’ Postgraduate Qualification for physicians looking to progress in their specialty

The forerunner to this book -- Ryder, Mir & Freemana s a An Aid to the MRCP Short Casesa -- rapidly established itself as a classic and has sold over 30,000 copies. The new Progressive Assessment of Clinical Examination Skills (PACES) has replaced the old short case exam and, as a result, the authors have revised, reworked and extended their highly successful text so that it continues to address the study needs of candidates. This new revision aid is now presented in two volumes: * An Aid to the MRCP PACES Volume 1: Stations 1, 3 and 5 * An Aid to the MRCP PACES Volume 2: Stations 2 and 4 This Volume covers Station 1 a Respiratory and Abdominal Systemsa , Station 3 a Cardiovascular and Neurological Systemsa and Station 5 a Skin, Locomoter, Eyes and the Endocrine Systema . The 200 cases have been written in accordance with the new examining and marking schemes used for the exam. They provide an invaluable training and revision aid for all candidates.

which mirror those most frequently encountered in the examination, are all set out in a standardised format, and include hints and tips as well as a summary of consolidated key learning points. Each case contains a section on presentation which will aid the candidate in perfecting this skill. Although most appropriate for MRCP (PACES) examination candidates, the book's clear structure and balance of detail and clarity make it useful reading for medical students and trainee physicians. It will also be an excellent resource for clinicians involved in teaching students and doctors. 'The style is succinct, not minimalist but sufficient. The presentation is fresh and logical. The authors have done an outstanding job in introducing the setting for the PACES examination and the expectations of the examiners.' - from the Foreword by Bryan Williams
